The Tree of Life (TOL) is a sustainability project based in St. Catherines, St. Mary’s Bay, Newfoundland. It’s designed by and for its members to help connect people, and nature through the cooperative development and management of an off-the-grid retreat facility.
Our Mission includes construction of a retreat space, alternative energy, organic gardening, and alternative currency with membership of like-minded people.
Our Vision is to establish an off the grid, self-sustainable retreat facility. People are welcome to visit or participate as work-a-ways (bartering), part-time or even resident members. The longer-term vision includes hosting retreats in Nature, such as art, music and spiritual practices.
The Tree of Life supports those who have made efforts to become free of drug and alcohol dependencies. As such, we have a zero tolerance policy for all artificial intoxicants at The Tree of Life. We focus on developing our natural high!
They have a wind turbine on site. They are searching for people with 'handyman' skills including carpenters/builders who like being in nature and who like alternative community development. Tasks for helpers could include construction activities related to the main centre building, a permanent bunkhouse, green house and accommodation spaces. There is need for landscaping and especially focus on the organic gardens for those with green thumb! They are flexible and helpers should work with what resonates inside them. They have lots of tools!
